You Built a Life. Now Rebuild the Edge.

The Late Stage Athlete

You didn't stop being an athlete. You stopped having a system. This is a live performance lab for people who trained hard, stepped away, and are done accepting that decline is the only direction left.

I'm Rob. 63. Built one of the largest CrossFit facilities in the world. Stepped away for over a decade. Now in a 7-month public build targeting HYROX Worlds Stockholm in the 60–64 division — qualifying through HYROX Dallas (Nov 18–22, 2026). Logging everything. Publishing everything. Full picture, not highlights.

You don't come back the same way you left. You come back smarter.

7 Month Build
5 Pillars Tracked
100% Unfiltered

63 Years Old. 7 Months. HYROX Worlds.

I'm Rob. I built one of the largest CrossFit facilities in the world. Then I walked away and spent 10 years in maintenance mode — no competition, no structure, no real data. Just enough to get by.

That ends now. I'm in a 7-month public rebuild targeting a top placement in the 60–64 Open division at HYROX Dallas on November 18–22, 2026. If I qualify for Worlds, I race at Stockholm 2027 — in the same 60–64 group, even if I've turned 65 by then. Every session is filmed, scored, and published. Full picture. Not highlights.

This isn't about surviving the race. It's about building the evidence base for a future Late Stage Athlete physical facility in DFW — and proving that the LSA Index works as a rebuilding tool in real time.

Station Distance / Reps Load

Each station is preceded by a 1,000 m run. Eight stations. One race. The same standard weights every 60+ Open athlete in the world competes against.

Everything Gets Tested. Nothing Gets Assumed.

Every training method, recovery tool, nutrition protocol, and piece of gear runs through the same five-pillar index. If it moves the number, it stays. If it doesn't, it's cut.

This is not a training philosophy. It is a measurement system. Five pillars. Weighted by their actual impact on late-stage athletic performance. One composite score that tells you whether you are building capacity or losing it — and exactly which lever to pull first.

Structural
25%

Joint integrity, movement quality, and injury resilience. The foundation. If this breaks down, nothing else matters. Most late-stage athletes have structural liabilities they're training around without realizing it.

What gets tested
  • Joint loading protocols and mobility work
  • Footwear impact on movement mechanics under load
  • Warm-up and movement priming sequences
  • Load progression strategies for tendons and connective tissue
Aerobic
25%

Cardiovascular capacity and sustainable output. Not "cardio." The engine that determines how long you can compete at a level that means anything. Undertrained in most people past 50 who think they're doing enough.

What gets tested
  • Zone 2 training volume, frequency, and duration
  • High-intensity aerobic stimulus and VO2 max protocols
  • Station-specific conditioning (SkiErg, Row, Sled)
  • Recovery rate between high-output efforts
Metabolic
20%

Fueling efficiency, body composition, and energy system output. What you're actually running on — and whether it's working. Most people are guessing here. The data usually tells a different story.

What gets tested
  • Protein intake targets, timing, and real-world tracking
  • Carbohydrate periodization around training and recovery
  • Body composition changes mapped against performance output
  • Supplement efficacy against bloodwork and energy markers
Neural
15%

Coordination, reaction time, and neuromuscular output. The first thing to deteriorate after 50. The least discussed. The most underestimated factor in late-stage athletic performance. No program addresses it directly — this one does.

What gets tested
  • Reactive and explosive training protocols
  • Motor pattern relearning strategies and skill acquisition
  • Power output benchmarks across training blocks
  • Fatigue impact on neuromuscular performance over time
Recovery
15%

Sleep quality, HRV, and adaptation capacity. Where gains are made or lost. Training stimulus without recovery is debt that compounds. At 50+, the margin for error is smaller than it used to be.

What gets tested
  • HRV trends mapped against training load (Whoop data)
  • Sleep quality interventions and measurable performance impact
  • Active recovery protocols vs. passive rest — what the data shows
  • Inflammation markers and their correlation to output

One number. Five levers. No guessing.

7-Month Program Overview

Everything is structured around the five pillars and built backward from race day. No generic programming. Every phase is driven by what the LSA Index data shows — not what a template says to do.

Phase 1 Base & Structural — Months 1–2

Establish baseline movement integrity across all eight HYROX stations. Identify structural liabilities before volume goes up. Mobility, tendon loading, joint prep. Low intensity, high attention. Nothing gets built on a broken foundation.

Phase 2 Volume & Aerobic/Metabolic — Months 3–4

Systematic aerobic development. Zone 2 base, station-specific volume, nutrition dialed for lower energy needs and recovery demands. Biomarker data integrated from bloodwork. Output tracked weekly against the Aerobic and Metabolic pillars.

Phase 3 Intensity & Neural — Month 5–6

Race-pace training. Full station simulations. Reactive capacity, transition speed, lactate tolerance. Neural pillar becomes the primary focus — power output and neuromuscular efficiency at 63 require specific stimulus most programs skip entirely.

Phase 4 Taper & Peak — Final 3 Weeks

Volume drops. Intensity stays sharp. Recovery pillar protocols go to maximum — HRV management, sleep optimization, inflammation control. The goal is to arrive at race day with the highest LSA Index score of the 7 months.

The Complete Experiment. Not the Highlights.

The daily short-form clips on social are real. But they're 60 seconds of a 3-hour session. The Lab is what actually happened — the full log, the full data, the full decision-making. Every adjustment explained. Every number shown.

This is a private community of late-stage athletes training alongside a live, documented rebuild. Not a course. Not a coach. A room full of people scoring their own LSA Index and doing the work.
